International PARK(ing) Day

London - 2011

September 16th saw us take over 5 parking bays on the South Bank. In them we created, a Classic Cliche Garden, x 2 Green Carpet Sustainable Fashion Shows, a Parking Bay (a gilded bay tree planted in a 1959 El Camino pick up truck), an Edible Bus Stop container display and a Mobile Woodland in conjunction with Trees for Cities. Live musicians played, theatre performers roamed mischievously, and a traffic cone darted about, squirting water at unsuspecting passers by and one rather miffed security guard. By all accounts, it was a huge success, we’ll be back next year, bigger and better, new location, new bay ideas and all are welcome!

Many thanks to our fabulous photographers for the day, Julie Begon (JB) and Photini Pavlidis (PP). NB: No reproduction of their photos is allowed without their express permission being granted. All rights reserved 2011.

We came, we turfed, we transformed.
